002 → Why Me
July.10 2024 < Why Me > Director, Production Designer and Editor
"Why Me" is a visually compelling music video directed and edited by me, based on a song written by musician Tia Mack during her high school years. The lyrics tell the story of a boy who had a crush on Tia and later became her stalker, creating a complex love triangle that is less sinister than it sounds. Inspired by this narrative, the music video unfolds across four carefully crafted scenes.
The narrative begins in a hallway and a party where the female lead is being subtly stalked by the boy, creating an atmosphere Pof tension and intrigue. The bedroom scenes depict the female lead with her new boyfriend, juxtaposed with moments where she receives messages from her past admirer, highlighting her ongoing emotional struggle. The park scenes serve as flashbacks, portraying the times when the female lead and the boy were on good terms, adding layers of nostalgia and melancholy to the story.
This project marked my first attempt at directing a music video, blending narrative storytelling with musical rhythm. It was an enjoyable and educational experience, showcasing the themes of unrequited love, obsession, and the complexities of teenage emotions.
